Now it's a pair

Hello everyone,  I'm sharing another canvas today,  all the products are from DecoArt. It started as a twin!

On both canvasses I scraped Media Fluids in various greens and blues and heat dried them.
Then out came the Media Mists.

At this point these canvasses say good bye. I completly changed my mind and continued with only one.

I decided I want this one to hang along side the canvass from Thursday. I am hanging them both in my passage by the front door.

I wanted more texture on this one and so glued some hessian which I had pulled about onto the canvass.

I spritz the paints over this once it was dry, and to tie it to my previous canvas, I added embossing powders and Frantage before the Matt medium was dry, and heated it to make it do its magic.

I prepared my butterfly and although I loved it I felt it wasn't right.

I painted it white but still wasn't happy

I took the butterfly off and folded it in half. I used it as a template and cut anther one out. I used the waste as a stencil with crackle paste. I used the heat tool,  but before it was dry I used a pen lid to add some circles. Once completly dry I applied Antiquing Cream in burnt Umber. I loved the effect as I rubbed off the cream. This was complimented with Liquid Glass spread evenly over the butterfly and
then dried.

I hope you like it. Take care

shiny Heart

Hi everyone. We had snow! It was very pretty, but soon disappeared and by the time I got home if any had fallen it had completly gone. I love watching Kashmir my cat in the snow, he is so funny talk about fair weathered. Or as I'm told you Northerners might say Nesh lol. He literally tip toes!

This photo is of him asleep on my I Pad as I type this blog. I'm typing with one hand and stoking him with the other.

I got a selfie with him earlier too lol

Now to what I've been up to. I had lots of ideas floating around but kept being drawn back to Shiney things and grunge paste which has embossing powder on top. I saw this on Massofhair's blog and that she has been inspired to do this by Pamellia check out Mo's Post here.

Everything I have used is from Paper Artsy, except the stencils and Frantage. I am entering their blog challenge with this canvas. The theme is Shiny and there is fantastic inspiration on the blog from very talented artists who are all very popular for their own individual style. it really is worth a visit.

I'm into Canvases right now, so took a 9x12 thin canvass and sprayed it with a mix of Marlin and Chalk Fresco  Acrylic watered down. When dried I scraped a mix of Pumkin Soup and Brown Shed on to the canvass with a palette knife. I loved the effect the knife had on paint and the grungy look it has.

I then used Grunge Paste in a heart stencil onto which I sprinkled different Frantage and gold embossing powders

The embossing has lots of texture and the colour is brighter than the light shows.

Below you can see some more stencilling both in gold and grunge paste.

I added orange made from Haystack which is opaque and London Bus  to add to the grunge paste. This was a tad too orange and so dampened the vibrancy with some French Roast Once dry I added treasure gold in White Fire.

I added more French Roast here and there with my finger onto the canvas. I didn't intend to have a rust look but it seems to have happened and I love it.

You can see below that I added some shadow with my stabilo all pencil on the word and around the heart.

I also added a small sentiment from a JOFY plate 13 randomly in black Arcival

This is so different for me and I really enjoyed making it. Thank you for your visit xx

Bye for now Debsxx

Mixed Media Canvass and DecoArt

Hello everyone hope this post sees you all fit and healthy and those of you who do not enjoy good health I hope you are as comfortable as you can be. I'm happy to report that I'm basically healthy!

I love it when I remember how lucky I am, and to hold that thought, I created a canvas to remind me. I'm also going to enter it into the Country View Challenge where the theme is

                                        Use something new To You!

All products are from DecoArt except the Treasure Gold in Silver that's Paper Artsy

I took a 10x8 deep canvass and randomly stuck on tissue paper.

I smudged Quinacridone Gold Media Fluid  lightly watered down, in areas that drew me to them. I let this dry and did the same with Violet Media Mister, which I had sprayed a tiny amount of onto the craft sheet and using my finger added it to the canvass. To finish this layer, I sprayed Shimmer Mist Yellow Media Mister, and watered it down to get a fine run.

For the next layer I used Crackle Paste through a couple of stencils and heat dried it.

To tie it together I added some Mister in Shimmer Mangenta and Violet.

You have to look closely in the photo below to see the pencil Marks; this was my sketch for the flower I wanted on my canvas.

This next bit is new to me, I haven't seen it anywhere! I'm calling it Paint with Crackle. If any of you have seen this technique and knows what it's called, please let me know :)

So...
I started to paint with the Crackle Paste

Once this was dry I sprayed the bluebells with the Violet Mister and then with water in areas to dilute the opaqueness. Next I sprayed some shimmer white onto the craft mat and tapped the colour on with my finger.

Again using the Crackle Paste I stencilled my sentiment. All the raised areas of the canvas were highlighted with Silver Treasure Gold.

Thank you for your visit, take care.

Don't forget the Prize!

Hello and welcome everyone. Thanks for popping by today. It's a quick post to remind you of my new blog challenge which is based on the signs of the zodiac. All the main details and linky can be found here

The first challenge is Aquarius. You can interpret it anyway you want. It's a mixed media challenge so get your creative heads on and, you could win prize from DecoArt. This month is Antiquing Cream x3 and some other craty bits from me as its our first challeng.

So what is the zodiac?

From a dictionary

zodiac
ˈzəʊdɪak/
noun
  1. 1
    ASTROLOGY

a belt of the heavens within about 8° either side of the ecliptic, including all apparent positions
of the sun, moon, and most familiar planets. It is divided into twelve equal divisions or signs (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces).
And Wikipedia says
In both astrology and historical astronomy, the zodiac (Greek: ζῳδιακός, zōidiakos) is a circle of twelve 30° divisions of celestial longitude that are centered upon the ecliptic, the apparent path of the Sun across the celestial sphere over the course of the year. The paths of the Moon and visible planets also remain close to the ecliptic, within the belt of the zodiac, which extends 8-9° north or south of the ecliptic, as measured in celestial latitude. Because the divisions are regular, they do not correspond exactly to the twelve constellations after which they are named.

Historically, these twelve divisions are called signs. Essentially, the zodiac is a celestial coordinate system, or more specifically an ecliptic coordinate system, which takes the ecliptic as the origin of
latitude, and the position of the Sun at vernal equinox as the origin of longitude.
Well does that explain it? Do you believe in the signs? are you like your sign? All you Aquarians out there check out what your signs says about you? And the rest of us who knows someone that is Aquarius are they like their sign? Let me know in the comments or better still, create a piece of art about what it all means to you.

Aquarius The Water Bearer

January 20 - February 18
Often simple and unassuming, the Aquarian goes about accomplishing goals in a quiet, often unorthodox ways. Although their methods may be unorthodox, the results for achievement are surprisingly effective. Aquarian's will take up any cause, and are humanitarians of the zodiac. They are honest, loyal and highly intelligent. They are also easy going and make natural friendships. If not
kept in check, the Aquarian can be prone to sloth and laziness. However, they know this about themselves, and try their best to motivate themselves to action. They are also prone to philosophical thoughts, and are often quite artistic and poetic.

And to help those creative thoughts the lovely Mo also known as Massofhair kindly agreed to make something for today. I'd like to say a special thank you to Mo. She is always supportive and encouraging. She is extremely talented too, checkout all her creations here

This is Mo's fantastic creation

So come on play along!

See you all soon

DecoArt and Gelli plus a little Debbie

Hello everyone, thanks for popping by. What kind of Sunday have you had? Mine's been pretty lazy. I spent some time playing but didn't have an idea of what I wanted to do. I did some tidying and sorted out my stamps.

Eventually I settled with the gelli plate, cut some card and got out the Media Fluids. Im quite limited in colours but still had an enjoyable play.

To a few I added some of my own art. I used an app to turn some of faces into line drawings which were then printed onto craft coloured tissue paper. I tore them out and stuck them to my card.

The red one above I doodle and added some flower stamps and a sentiment.

And my fav one

I've saved the others for another day.

Thanks for the visit,

Take care Debsxx

It's all about the Metal!

OGood afternoon to you all. I got back from my sisters in time to play. Everywhere I look lately, metal and rust are there, so couldn't resist creating something of my own.

On the Paper Artsy Blog the theme is shiney things and I will enter this in the challenge
I scraped white gesso with a knife onto a small wall board. Once this was dry I scraped Grunge Paste in small areas on the board. I made it very rough to add texture. Next I sprayed Turquiose Fresco Acrylic at the top of the board and let it run. I helped it with a little spray of water where I wanted it to run more. While this was drying I added a little more water to my spritzer and then added Baltic Blue to darken the colour. I sprayed this second coat and again let it run.

While this was drying I die cut a heart, some coins, flowers,  a small plant and a trellis. I gave each of these a coat of black Media fluid. The trellis, coin and flower part I painted with Quinacridone Gold and allowed to dry. I used bronze Treasure Gold to add to the rust look. The other pieces were coated in a translucent silver, and when dry silver Treasure Gold was used to complete the metallic look.

The heart was first given some script via Grunge Paste and a stencil. Once dry it was given a coat black, and then silver. Once these coats were dry, I rubbed black Antiquing Cream in all over the heart. This was then removed with a damp cloth leaving a little around the words. Silver Treasure Gold was added to the texture on the heart and the board.

I used silver spheres on wire with some beaded wire to form a bouquet and assembled my flower adding a small metal button to the centre. I stamped a sentiment and assembled my board.

Thank you for visiting, come back soon.

Just for me

Hello everyone, and a special welcome to my new followers.

Tonight when I got home,I went straight to my shed as I needed to make something just for me, a friend also inspired this.

I am going to enter the page into the Craft Stamper Challenge. On their blog they say this

'Take A Stamp'

So.....get stamping and entering! You will be amazed at the prize on offer for one lucky randomly drawn winner..... Brace Yourself.... See for yourself here

I brayed Dolly Mixture, Plum , Hint of Mint, Hey Pesto and French Roast Fresco Acrylics From Paper Artsy onto smoothly card.

I stamped the leaves from Elizabeth 01 and flowers from Darcy 09 using archival Ink.

I worked out where I wanted my girl to be, and rough sketched lightly. I then painted this area in Vintage Lace Fresco Acrylic and the hair in Chutney.

I painted the flowers and leaves with Fribralo Pens by Caran D'ache from Paper Artsy.

I wanted to stamp a sentiment directly on the page so using Chalk Fresco Acrylic (my go to white) I blotted out an area of the background. I ensured it was larger than I needed so I could blend the edges. I really love the effect and will be playing with this more on future projects.

I used the pens and white acrylic from Windsor and Newton to form my skin tones and added some black pen in areas I wanted more prominent.

On the hair I used portfolio crayons also from Paper Artsy. The butterfly and sentiment are both from IndigoBlu.

And now the finished picture.
